Farrell Styers — Director
Farrell, originally hailing from Collbran, Colorado, has spent the past several years developing a career as a media analyst in the Middle East and, most recently, Central Asia. He specializes in quantitative analysis and has previously worked for various clients and government organizations in Washington, DC, and Baghdad, Iraq. He studied International Relations at the George Washington University. He has a true appreciation for well-constructed infographics and is a stickler for trends with statistical significance. A native English speaker, he is also conversational in Egyptian Arabic and currently studying Russian.
Kirstin Styers — Deputy Director
Kirstin, from Langhorne, Pennsylvania, likes to give herself credit for deciding to base Oxus International in Kyrgyzstan. She studied Middle Eastern Studies at the George Washington University before working as a media analyst in Baghdad, Iraq. She manages Oxus’ English-language social media and website presence and also takes all photographs that appear on the Oxus website. In addition to her native English, Kirstin has dabbled in French, Arabic, and is currently studying Russian.
Kumushay Biyseyeva — Research Assistant
Kumushay joins Oxus International as its first full-time employee in Kyrgyzstan. She is a Bishkek native and is a graduate of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University with a degree in Public Relations, and she previously worked at the American University of Central Asia. She is a master of multi-tasking, contributing her skills in translation, research, administrative duties, training employees, and managing Oxus’s Russian and Kyrgyz-language social media presence.
Gulzara Hayytmuradova — Intern
Gulzara, originally from Turkmenistan, is currently a student at the American University of Central Asia, studying Journalism and Mass Communications. She is Oxus International’s «head intern» and has contributed her knowledge of the Central Asian media atmosphere to connect Oxus with Kyrgyzstan’s most influential media professionals.
